'The Movers, Shakers and Players'
The young toddler begins to show increasing independence and obvious pleasure in moving, communicating and learning through play.
Our classes stress the importance of the 'movement' with the music. Motor planning is significant at this stage of development. We explore patterns, sequences of action and cooperative play. Parents help children learn to be competent problem solvers: from getting equipment in and out of the bags, to taking turns, to sharing and more.
Speech generally develops during this stage, but there is wide variation in when and how children develop language. While some children have hundreds of words and are quite verbal, others rely more heavily on gestures and don't have as much spoken language. Don't worry too much about this: As long as children are effective communicators via gestures and sounds, their language skills are likely to catch up. Taking what you have learnt in the class home with you will enhance their natural progression.
